Like New (LN) or Very Fine (FN):

Without faults or defects, in the same condition as when it was published.

Fine (F):

Approaches LN or FN but shows signs of having been read.

Very Good (VG):

A used book showing some small signs of wear. Some of the surface color may have flaked off and there may be wear near the edges or corners.

Good (G):

The average used and worn book that has all the pages and leaves present.

Fair (F):

A worn book that has complete legible text but may be soiled stained or spotted.

Poor (P):

The book may be falling apart. The only merit is complete text. May be missing maps, plates or have loose binding, hinges, pages, etc.

Ex-Library:

Library discard usually has a pocket and date slip present or removed with the removal marks still there. It usually has the name of the library stamped in one or more places throughout the book and a location marker written or taped on the spine.
